For the last few days, the weather has taken an unusually good turn, and as a result, despite the fact that the majority of people I know have a cold in some form or another, nearly everybody seems to be in a relatively good mood. Obviously this doesn’t really apply to everyone, but most people seem happier and more easily pleased. This wasn’t an easy thing to pick up on, given the usual general hyperactivity of my friends, but had it been pouring down with rain today, I’m sure the majority of people would have been in a considerably more miserable state of mind.
Obviously I’m going to need more evidence to support this, but my theory is that if the weather is such that suggests a cheerful outlook, most of the time, we will follow the suggestion. The same works with rain; if the weather is drizzly and dark, it’s far more difficult to maintain a positive outlook on life. Of course this wouldn’t apply to people who prefer the rain to the sun, but hypothetically, if for one day the entire world experienced the weather that makes them happiest, excluding the psychopaths, the emotionless and the brain-dead, we could have a day where everybody was perfectly content.
